Recently, I attended a political rally for Congressman Ron Paul, who is running for president in '08.  I've known about Ron Paul since 1988, but had not taken the time to look over his current campaign to see where he now stood on all of the issues.  After listening to Ron Paul in person and doing a little research, I have decided to endorse Ron Paul for President in 2008.  Here's why:

*He's known on Capital Hill as "Dr. No".  Why?  Because Ron Paul has never voted for a tax increase or governmental expansion in any form during his time in Congress.

*He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.

*He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.

*He has never voted to raise congressional pay.

*He has never taken a government-paid junket.

*He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

*He voted against the Patriot Act.

*He voted against regulating the Internet.

*He voted against the Iraq war.

*He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.

*He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

*He will not reward illegal aliens.

*Would return the U.S. to the gold standard, not the "paper standard". 

*Wants to abolish the I.R.S.

*Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

*Ron Paul stands on a bedrock of integrity. 

*As a former OBGYN, Ron Paul is solidly pro-life.

*See's little use for the United Nations.

Although Ron Paul is a member of the GOP, voting for him is like voting for a third party candidate.  Ron is basically a Libertarian wearing a Republican suit.  It's similar to Rudy Giuliani, who is a Democrat wearing a Republican suit.  Got it?  If presidential candidates were pieces of fruit, then Rudy and Hillary are both apples.  Ron Paul is an orange. 

Ron Paul knows the constitution and actually uses it to make his voting decisions.  He knows the constitution better than most and sticks closely to the vision of our Founding Fathers. 

Ron Paul is gaining growing support on the internet, and continues to make splashes on television despite being labeled as a candidate who has "no chance" by certain television wonks.
